Corporate Entertainment Hypnotist

Corporate Event Hypnosis Pretalk

Behold! The opening remarks at a Corporate Event Stage Hypnotist Show.

The function of a group “hypnosis pretalk” is to dispel myths and misconceptions about hypnosis while putting potential audience volunteers at ease. Anyone of sound mind and body can be hypnotized! Fear is the only thing that prevents a person from being easily coached into the trance state.

Here is an example of Corporate Entertainment Hypnotist Erick Känd engaging his audience with an interactive pre-talk before requesting self-selecting volunteers to come to the stage.

Host:  Please welcome Master Hypnotist, Erick Känd!

Stage Hypnotist Erick Känd: Not yet, but in a few moments time, I’m going to invite everybody here that would like to experience hypnosis tonight to come up on stage and take a seat. What you experience here today will leave you feeling better than you have in a long time.

Of course, in a program like this, I will only be working with self-selecting volunteers. That means people that really want to come up and have a very cool, perhaps even life-changing experience.

By applause, how many people here have even seen a live hypnosis show before? By applause? Quite a few of you know how it works.

What you see tonight might be quite a bit more conservative than something you may have seen in a club or on TV. Volunteers will soon be seated in these chairs, and we’ll then do what’s called a hypnosis induction. This will bring our group of volunteers into a nice, deep, natural state of hypnosis.

We clearly have a big, fun group here tonight. We’ll be working with quite a few volunteers.

Is Hypnosis a Supernatural Experience?

Now, for those of you who have never seen anything involved with hypnosis before, first thing I got to let you know, there is nothing strange, there is nothing supernatural about this experience. The fact is, everyday, everybody here in this room is experiencing a variety of natural trance states.

Highway Hypnosis

For example, you might remember driving down the highway, just listening to the radio, lost in thought, and then you miss your freeway off-ramp. This is what we call highway hypnosis. That is the same thing as daydreaming, and that is actually the same experience you’ll have up here on the stage. It’s completely natural. You’ll always feel good. It’s actually happening with all of us, all the time, all day long.

Can Anyone Get Hypnotized?

Here’s my survey question for you:

How many people here feel for whatever reason, that you just cannot be hypnotized? Who here feels that way? Like, “It just would not work for me”?

I want to be absolutely right up front with you folks. There are just two requirements here tonight. Number one, you do have to have at least average intelligence. A simple ability to concentrate is all it takes!

In fact, before I ever started doing hypnotist shows for entertainment, I was actually a clinical hypnotherapist and life coach. I was seeing clients individually in my office to help them use hypnosis to achieve their personal goals: lose weight, stop smoking, eliminate a fear or phobia, or perhaps to sleep better at night.

I have to tell you, after doing thousands of individual sessions, I know that anybody can be hypnotized.

In fact, one in three people can be hypnotized very easily. Now’s a great time to take a good look at the person on your left, and take a good look at the person on your right. If neither one of those people look like they could be hypnotized, that means “you’re it” tonight!

How Quickly Can Someone Be Hypnotized?

Now, this is true. Believe it or not, some people can be hypnotized in less than a second. Some people it takes two or three minutes. Some people five or six…days! We don’t have that kind of time.

So today, of course we’re looking for people that are motivated, people that are going to be quick and easy to work with. Raise your hand if you’re sitting next to someone that you think is quick and easy.

What Does it Feel Like to Be Hypnotized?

One of the questions I get asked a lot, “What does it feel like to be hypnotized?” What is it like to be one of the volunteers in the show? For you, it’s kind of the same experience as lying in bed on a Saturday morning, half-awake, half-sleep. You are feel good…

You’re also very aware! You can hear a person talking over here. You can hear a cellphone going off over there. Yet, you are relaxed. You feel good. You’re in the zone, and all that other stuff just doesn’t matter.

When you’re in the hypnotic state, it’s very easy to let go of all of your stress, and just relax and have fun. This allows your imagination to grow many times more powerful.

All we’re doing here tonight is helping to get your analytical mind out of the way so you can have some fun accepting some positive suggestions from me.

So, I do want to show you exactly what I mean, and I also want to find out how well everybody here can follow along. Of course, it’s a group-interactive program! So let’s start off everybody…

Circle Demonstration

Please, take your right hand. Put your right hand way up high in the air, just like this. Now, wave that hand around and say, “Howdy!”

Nicely done! Make a circle with your thumb and forefinger. Look right through your circle. Make sure your circle’s not all clogged up. If it’s all clogged up now, you’re either really drunk, or you’re starting the show without me.

Look right through your circle. Put your hand up and look back at me. Look back through your circle, look back at me. Now take your circle, put it right smack dab on your…chin, right there. Cool. Your chin is actually down here, people.

Now, this is what I’m talking about. We are simply getting your analytical mind out of the way, and then it becomes easier to start accepting suggestions, even visual suggestions.

Napkin Demonstration

I have here in my hand a little cocktail napkin. I’m going to ask you a question. Please shout out the answer nice and loud for me. What shape is this napkin in?

 Audience:  Square!

Erick: What color is this napkin?

 Audience:  White!

Erick:  What color is snow?

Audience:  White!

Erick:  What do cows drink?

 Audience: Milk!

Erick:  Cows do NOT drink milk! So,now there’s a lot of people that are zero for two?!

Don’t feel bad. It’s all right. As long as you’ve got a smile on your face, that means you have an open mind, you like to participate, and you like to have fun. Those are the kinds of people I like to work with!

Magnetic Fingers Test

What I’m going to do now is a genuine exercise in using concentration with your imagination in a fun way so you can see how well you might be able to do if you do decide to volunteer here tonight. You’ll find this interesting, and you’ll learn something about yourself.

The only thing you need to understand today is that hypnosis is not about me making you do things. I am simply your coach here tonight. As your coach, I am going to ask you to use your imagination. So, if I ask you to imagine something a certain way or to picture something in your mind, it’s up to you to use your imagination the way I suggest.

You may have heard the phrase “the power of suggestion.” The suggestion has no power if you do not follow and accept the suggestion.

So, I will be your coach. I know what you need to do with your imagination to achieve some very powerful results, but you are still the quarterback that needs to carry out the plays. You must use your imagination as directed. If you do, you’ll get a very powerful result for yourself. You can prove this to yourself for the next 30 seconds.

Here’s how you do it.

You should be seating facing me, theater style. You’ll need the use of both your hands for about 30 seconds, so put down any phones, drinks, or anything like that. Don’t panic we’ll get back to the drinks in just a moment!

Now, simply squeeze your two hands together, about 10 inches in front of your chest, as if you are making a gigantic fist out of those two hands. Palms tightly pressed together, fingers interlocked, nice and tight! Now, take your two forefingers and spread those two fingers until they are about 1-2 inches apart.

Focus on that space in between your own two fingers. If you’re looking around at other people, if you’re looking at me, if you’re talking, then you’re thinking way too much. Focus on your own two fingers right now for just a moment and concentrate.

Imagine right now it’s as if your two fingers are now like two magnets that are pulling and tugging together very strongly now. The more you focus on your fingers like that, the stronger they will want to pull together, let that happen. Pulling and tugging, tugging and pulling together. And just as a magnet gets stronger the closer it gets, the closer those fingers get the stronger they’ll want to pull together…

…relax and feel good!

If those fingers locked together, then that is a very good sign. You’re one of the smart ones, and you have a very high degree of what we call emotional intelligence. This means you’ve got the concentration, you’ve got the imagination, you may be well on your way to being hypnotized here this evening.

Hypnosis is Energizing

Here’s something you might have heard before. One hour of hypnosis has the same energizing benefits as eight hours of peaceful and refreshing sleep. So, if you’ve been stressed, if you’ve been tired, if you ever have trouble sleeping at night, or if you want to party all night long and still be energized for your sessions tomorrow, then this is the place to be right up here.

Will the Volunteers Be Embarrassed?

Also, something very important. I do a lot of corporate events just like this one, and my genuine intention is that the volunteers of the program have the best time here. Here’s my promise to you as a volunteer: I will not embarrass you, and I will not even let you embarrass yourself while you’re up here on this stage. I know we don’t need to do that in order to have a lot of fun. So, we’re going to have a lot of laughs from beginning to end, but nobody’s going to do anything up here that they would regret.

Hypnosis Show Volunteer Requirements

I do have a few simple requests for people that would like to volunteer tonight.

Request number one – Please do not bring any drinks, hats, or purses up here into the staging area. You can either leave them out in the audience, or you can put them on this table next to the staging area.

Gentlemen, if you happen to be wearing a jacket tonight, I strongly recommend that you remove your jacket. I know it’s cold outside, but it’s not cold in here. We’ve got extra lights up here on stage. You’re also sitting next to other human bodies, so it gets a little bit warm.

Request number two –  If you have a history of mental or emotional problems, please do not volunteer to be in my show tonight. If you are not sure, ask your friends sitting next to you. They’ll let you know if you qualify to participate.

Finally – It’s all about concentration when you’re up here on stage. We’ve got a room full of distractions, so I hope to guide you to help maximize your concentration. If there’s other people up on stage that you know really well, then do NOT sit next to those people up on stage.

This is not the kind of experience where you come up holding hands with your “best friend forever” thinking we’ll get hypnotized together, and post about it on Instagram! This is a personal experience using your own subconscious imagination.

If you’re sitting next to somebody that you know really well, your natural inclination is to become distracted and start talking to that person. Essentially you become a potential distraction to everybody else up on stage that’s giving me 100% concentration. Not fair!

So, we send you back to the audience. And you’re wondering, “Why’d they send me back?” The reason is because you were talking, and you were distracting other people. Do not be that type of person.

Come up if you’re ready to have some fun, but be prepared to give me your concentration and focus while you’re up here. I guarantee you’ll have a great time with this!

Call for Self Selecting Volunteers

On the count of three, I’m going to invite up all those people that would like to volunteer and participate tonight. I’m going to take as many people that would like to volunteer, but you will have to come up here quickly because we are going to get started.

Remember audience, these volunteers are the true stars of the program here tonight, so make sure they hear lots of applause as they make their way up here to the stage.

We’d like to start with at least 12 people here tonight. So on the count of three—one, two, three—come on up! Let’s fill up these chairs with all the good-looking people. Keep that applause going as we fill these chairs filled up!
